Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Helps Deliver Food to Hundreds For Christmas Holiday

On December 16, 2023, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.,
dedicated a day to supporting the LINK Food Distribution at Christ Redeemer Church in
Sterling, VA. Sigma Mu Mu brothers spent over 4 hours loading food into vehicles of needy
families, enabling food delivery and uplift to more families than would have been possible
otherwise; 840 families were served. Sigma Mu Mu’s partnership with LINK, Inc. and Christ
Redeemer Church was formed over eight years ago and continues to be a focus of the chapter’s
Social Action Committee. LINK, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization that plays a vital role in
providing donated food and financial assistance to qualified, disadvantaged residents within the
Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn, VA communities. It is an essential resource for many families
in eastern Loudoun County and appreciates the help provided by the chapter. "We are grateful
for Sigma Mu Mu Chapter’s support of our Holiday Program over the past few years," said Lisa
Lombardozzi, President of LINK. "It is truly wonderful to count on these men to show up with
smiling faces."
Sigma Mu Mu Chapter has a long history of service to the community. The chapter's
participation in the LINK Food Drive is just one example of its commitment to giving back. "We
are always looking for ways to help those in need," said Sigma Mu Mu Brother Michael Bennett.
"The LINK Food Drive is a great way to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors." The
chapter is committed to continuing its partnership with LINK. It plans to volunteer at LINK Food
Distribution again next year and also seeks to partner with LINK for a spring and summer food
insecurity program. "We are proud to be a part of the LINK community," said Sigma Mu Mu
Basileus, Duane Keye. "We look forward to working with LINK for many years to come."
