Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Worships With Devine Nine at First Baptist Church of Vienna

On February 18, 2024, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., participated in the First Baptist Church of Vienna’s annual HBCU and Pan-Hellenic Sunday worship service in Vienna, VA. More than seventy-five Black Greek Letter Organization
members attended and, not surprisingly, Omega men outnumbered attendees from other fraternities and sororities. During the service, each Devine Nine member was recognized and encouraged to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Sigma Mu Mu Chapter of Loudoun County,
VA and Omicron Kappa Kappa Chapter of Reston, VA represented Omega along with a few other Brothers, including Brother Burnett Peters, Jr. of Alpha Chapter’s spring 1949 line. True to form, the Ques represented Omega enthusiastically and were loudest when making a joyful noise unto the Lord!
After the morning service led by pastor Dr. Vernon C. Walton, worshipers visited HBCU and Divine Nine exhibits in the church fellowship hall where information was shared about college, fraternity, and sorority life. This was a wonderful opportunity to advertise each of the Divine Nine’s respective programs, scholarship opportunities, and community service activities.  The Brothers of Sigma Mu Mu enjoyed the uplifting word delivered by Pastor Walton as well as
the festive atmosphere and celebration after the service. It was not only a chance to worship the Lord together as a chapter, but an opportunity to fellowship with other Omega men and Divine Nine Fraternities and Sororities. The chapter looks forward to participating in next year’s HBCU and Pan-Hellenic Sunday event at First Baptist Church of Vienna.
