Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Supports 2nd Annual Black History Month Expo in Sterling, VA

Sterling VA - On February 24, 2024, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc., participated in the 2 nd Annual Black History Month Expo sponsored by the
Sterling Advisory Board. The event attracted 700 attendees and was held at the Sterling
Community Center to honor the achievements and contributions of the Black community. With
posters, friendly conversation, and interactive games, Sigma Mu Mu brothers highlighted history
makers and famous Omega men. Brothers also provided information on available Sigma Mu Mu
scholarships, and facilitated student registrations for the chapter’s upcoming Talent Hunt
Program. Parents and students who visited Sigma Mu Mu’s exhibit table left the event better
informed about Omega’s impact throughout the world as well as Sigma Mu Mu’s local
community service initiatives.
During the program, event coordinator Richard Cabellos asked Sigma Mu Mu Vice-Basileus,
Brother Ray Gary, to say a few words about Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Brother Gary used
this opportunity to share with all event attendees Omega’s background and mission as well as the
many accomplishments of Sigma Mu Mu Chapter. Mr. Cabellos thanked the chapter for
supporting the event and expressed a desire to collaborate with Sigma Mu Mu in the future.
Sigma Mu Mu looks forward to participating in next year’s Black History Month Expo and plans
to explore other opportunities to serve Sterling and the surrounding area in collaboration with the
Sterling Advisory Board.
