Sigma Mu Mu Chapter and Operation Uplift Foundation Contribute More than $3100 to AACA

On 14 February 2026, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., supported the African American Community Alliance’s (AACA’s) first public facing fundraiser, “Loving Our Community” Gala - Investing in Educating and Empowering Generations…Uniting in the Power of Purple”.  Nine (9) Sigma Mu Mu brothers took advantage of this opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their wives at this festive event while contributing more than $3,100.00 to AACA’s ongoing efforts to provide resources to nonprofit and charitable organizations that serve our communities.  The gala featured a pre-program cocktail reception during which attendees mixed, mingled and took photos; a silent auction; a delicious buffet dinner; community awards presentations; and entertainment provided by the Prince Tribute Experience Show band.  During the program, Sigma Mu Mu’s own Basileus Paul Forbes presented the AACA 2026 Founder’s Award to Mr. Jim Roberts from the Friends of Thomas Balch Library.  Patrons celebrated into the night by dancing to Prince hits played by the impressive Prince Tribute Show band.

As one might expect, Omega men in attendance fully embraced the “Uniting in the Power of Purple” theme and the event organizer’s request for attendees to dress in shades of purple After-Five attire.  Brothers Derrick Clarke, Chidi James, Larry Melton, Dan Taylor, Michael Lipscomb, Duane Keye, Zedric Teague, Paul Forbes, and Brian Johnson were happy and proud to represent Omega, Sigma Mu Mu, and Sigma Mu Mu’s charitable arm, Operation Uplift Foundation.   Last year, the Operation Uplift Foundation received a $10,000.00 grant from AACA to apply towards the Foundation’s scholarship, mentoring and community service initiatives.  With on-going reciprocal support, Operation Uplift, Sigma Mu Mu and AACA look forward to continuing joint efforts to uplift children, students, individuals and families in Loudoun County.
