On 28 February 2026, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., attended the NAACP Loudoun Branch Annual Freedom Fund Gala at the Lansdowne Resorts in Leesburg, VA, culminating a months-long event support effort.  The men of Sigma Mu Mu were instrumental in the planning, setup, and execution of the gala in partnership with the NAACP.

With a Soul Train theme, the event was a fun, festive, uplifting celebration of community service work performed last year in Loudoun County, VA.  Guests mixed, mingled and networked during a pre-program reception, after which the ballroom doors were opened and the guests were welcomed by the Master of Ceremony Don Cornelius, played by Sigma Mu Mu’s own Brother Reginald Parker.  Everyone danced down a Soul Train Line to their assigned seats, including Sigma Mu Mu Brothers Ryan Myers, Leroy Ross, and Trevor Browne.

During the affair’s program segment, Mr. Christian Johannes, the NAACP 2^nd Vice President, recognized distinguished guests and the NAACP leadership team. NAACP Loudoun Branch President Bishop Michelle Thomas also delivered her State of the NAACP speech during which she recognized many in the room who were instrumental in the year’s successes.  Her remarks were followed by award presentations and dancing.   Among the award recipients was Ms. Truphelia Parker, wife of Brother Reginald Parker; she received the Marie Medley-Howard Advocacy & Leadership Award.

Sigma Mu Mu was proud to support the annual Freedom Fund Gala fundraiser and plans to continue its support of the NAACP Loudoun Branch.  It was a fitting way to conclude the chapter’s celebration of the 100^th Black History Month.
