Sigma Mu Mu Participates in Juneteenth March and Celebration in Leesburg, VA

On June 19, 2025 Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., participated in the NAACP and Freedom Center's Juneteenth March and Celebration in Leesburg, VA.  Prior to marching, NAACP president Pastor Michelle Thomas led participants in prayer and delivered an inspiring speech on the significance of Juneteenth.  Attendees then marched from the Charles Hamilton Houston Courthouse to Raflo Park where the celebration continued with Juneteenth remarks by other speakers, including Senator Tim Kaine (D- Va.), former Commonwealth Attorney Buta Biberja, NAACP Loudoun Branch Executive Robin Burke, Delegate David Reid (D-28), NAACP Loudoun Second Vice President Christian Yohannes, and Loudoun native and current Tuskegee junior Payton Arnett.    The Crush Funk Band played music that created a festive atmosphere during the march and at the park for the 50+ attendees comprising Divine 9 participants, members of other black organizations, and Loudoun County residents.  Food was provided by Everything Eire, making the event a fun and enjoyable commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States.
