Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Honored by John Champe High School Black Student Union
On May 28, 2025, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., was recognized at the “Essence of Excellence” Awards Program hosted by the John Champe High School Black Student Union (BSU). The elegant event, held at the school in Aldie, VA , celebrated Black excellence under the theme, "Where Brilliance Meets Culture." Sigma Mu received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of the chapter’s continued support of student-centered initiatives throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
The program brought together more than 100 students, parents, faculty, community leaders, and guests for an inspiring evening of cultural celebration and academic recognition. Attendees dressed in black-and-white business casual attire, creating a sophisticated and unified atmosphere. Brothers Lee Johnson, Ryan Myers, and Joseph Smith attended and accepted Sigma Mu Mu’s award from BSU advisors Mrs. S. Carter and Mrs. S. Davis on behalf of the chapter. The recognition highlights Sigma Mu Mu’s ongoing efforts in mentorship, academic engagement, and youth development. Through programs such as Omega STARs and partnerships with local schools, the chapter remains actively invested in empowering the next generation of Black leaders.
Sigma Mu Mu proudly acknowledges the John Champe High School BSU for its leadership, vision, and dedication to academic and cultural excellence. The chapter remains committed to continuing collaborative efforts with schools across Loudoun County to reinforce positive cultural identity and scholastic achievement.
