Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Honors Legacy at 2025 Omega Rededication Ceremony

On 17 November 2025, brothers of Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., proudly joined brothers from across the Second District and the nation for the 2025 Omega Rededication Ceremony held on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., the birthplace of the Fraternity. Steeped in history and significance, the ceremony served as a moment of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to the ideals set forth by the Founders on that sacred campus in 1911.  Fifteen (15) Sigma Mu Mu brothers traveled to the ceremony in a caravan after meeting and fellowshipping in Ashburn, VA.

The keynote address was delivered by Brother Grand Basileus Ricky L. Lewis whose powerful message reinforced the theme for the 2025 Rededication and Achievement Week: "Impactful Service Through Intentional Friendship”.  Brother Lewis emphasized that Omega's strength has always rested in its dedication to purposeful action uplifting communities, supporting educational achievement, and nurturing deep bonds of brotherhood grounded in love, loyalty, and accountability.  His remarks challenged every brother present to embody intentionality in both service and friendship, reminding them that their work must echo far beyond the walls of the Fraternity.  Throughout the evening, the theme resonated strongly as Omega men recommitted themselves to the Fraternity’s cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift.

Rededication, as celebrated annually during Achievement Week, is more than a ritual; it is a reaffirmation of Omega’s legacy of civic engagement, community impact, and transformative leadership. For Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, participating in this distinguished ceremony served as both an honor and a call to action.  It was the culmination of Sigma Mu Mu’s Achievement Week celebration that included a knowledge night about the Fraternity, the chapter’s Awards Brunch, a reclamation fellowship event, and social action activities such as Adopt-a-Highway  litter cleanup and Sigma Mu Mu’s Global Day of Service toiletry donation to a homeless facility.  The chapter remains inspired to continue its mission of purposeful service and intentional friendship throughout Loudoun County, VA and beyond.
