Sigma Mu Mu Chapter Supports 35th Annual MLK March and Celebration in Leesburg, VA

On 19 January 2026, the men of Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, Third District of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., helped execute the 35th Annual MLK March and Celebration in Leesburg VA.  After providing months of planning assistance, Sigma Mu Mu participated in the event’s food drive, parade, and celebration program. Brothers donated more than 40 canned goods to the food drive at Frederick Douglass Elementary School, benefiting the Loudoun Hunger Relief non-profit organization that combats food insecurity by providing emergency food assistance, nutrition education, and connections to other community resources.  Sigma Mu Mu brothers then joined other Divine 9 fraternities and sororities, local school bands, individuals, families and other community groups for a symbolic march from the Old Loudoun Courthouse to the Douglass Community Center where keynote speaker Mr. Gabriel Acevero of the Maryland House of Delegates, District 39, spoke to the event theme: “The Dream Continues: Our History, Our Voice, Our Impact.”   The program also included musical performances, presentations, and speeches by members of the community, and concluded with MLK Committee Chairwoman Ms. Tammy Carter thanking the sponsors, committee members and the public for helping to make the day a huge success.
