Ashburn, VA – On June 1, 2016, Sigma Mu Mu Chapter of Loudoun County, VA provided financial assistance to college-bound high school seniors. Scholarships were awarded to three deserving students and monetary gifts were given to the high school class of 2016 graduates whose dads are Sigma Mu Mu brothers.  The scholarship awards were based on the evaluation of applications submitted by participants in the chapter’s annual scholarship competition which, this year, was open to all college-bound, Loudoun County high school seniors. Twenty-one applications were received from ten of the fifteen high schools in the county.  Ms. Jordan Williams of Briar Woods High School was selected as the first place winner and received a $4,000.00 scholarship; Ms. Asiah Robinson of Woodgrove High School was selected as the second place winner and received a $2,500.00 scholarship; and Ms. Ivana Spurlock of Rock Ridge High School was selected as the third place winner and received a $1,500.00 scholarship.  Sigma Mu Mu presented the scholarships to the recipients during the senior awards ceremony held at their respective high schools.

The monetary gifts totaling $2,500.00 were given to the graduating sons and daughters of chapter brothers in recognition of their academic accomplishment.  The one-time monetary gifts, each in the amount of $500.00, were given to Blake Francis (Westfield High School), son of Bro. Carl Francis; Jordan Hughes (John Champe High School), daughter of Bro. Marlon Hughes; Landon Johnson (Westfield High School), son of Bro. Brian Johnson; Kyle Miller (Stonebridge High School), son of Bro. Kelly Miller; and Briana Stanley (Bishop McNamara High School), daughter of Bro. Thomas Stanley.
