Leesburg, VA — Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Sigma Mu Mu Chapter, is again setting the example and leading the way through service. The students and staff at Leesburg Elementary School are discovering firsthand just how integral Sigma Mu Mu is to the local community.
In December, Sigma Mu Mu received more than 700 new books as part of its successful Toys for Tots campaign. Always thinking of the value of education, the Brothers of Sigma Mu Mu gave the books to Operation Uplift, a local 501(c)(3) foundation, which in turn donated the books to Leesburg Elementary School. The books cover a wide variety of interesting topics, and will be used throughout the school. Nearly every classroom will receive an allotment of books to read. Principal Angela Robinson expressed tremendous gratitude for the donation and indicated that the books will be put to immediate use. Brother Shawn Lacey, the assistant principal who led this education initiative, indicated that teachers will seek out ways to incorporate these books into their current curricula this semester.
Through diligence in the service of others, the Brothers of Sigma Mu Mu are truly living their creed and representing the lofty ideals of Omega.
